Build and Ship a Website

HTML, CSS and JavaScript, used to put a real site of your own on the internet.

Students build one site across the course — their own, chosen in week one — and it is live on a real domain by the end. Includes the parts tutorials skip: hosting, deploying, and fixing something that works locally but not in public.

What your child will learn

  • Write HTML and CSS without copying a template
  • Make a page work on a phone as well as a laptop
  • Add behaviour with JavaScript
  • Deploy to a live URL and fix what breaks there

What we cover

  • How a browser reads your file
  • Layout without frameworks
  • Type and colour that hold up
  • Making it work on a phone
  • Your first script
  • Responding to a click
  • Working with a list of data
  • Forms and validation
  • Version control, lightly
  • Deploying
  • Why it broke in production
  • Launch review

Who it is for

  • Teenagers who want something public to show
  • Students building a portfolio before university applications
  • Anyone who has followed tutorials but never shipped

What they need

  • A laptop
  • An idea for a site, or a willingness to pick one in week one

Builds interfaces professionally and remembers how long it took him to understand what hosting actually was.

Questions parents ask

No, deliberately. A student who understands the browser learns React in a fortnight; the reverse is not true.

Yes, on a free tier that stays free. The site remains theirs and keeps working after the course.
