Design & Animation

Animation Studio

Children animate their own short film, from first sketch to finished export.

A full short film, made properly: storyboard, characters, movement, sound, export. The work is slow on purpose — animation rewards patience, and that is half of what this course teaches.

What your child will learn

  • Storyboard an idea before animating it
  • Make a drawing move believably
  • Time an action so it reads
  • Export and share a finished film

What we cover

  • One sentence, one story
  • Storyboarding
  • Designing a character who can move
  • A bouncing ball, properly
  • Walking
  • Showing a feeling with a movement
  • Timing
  • Backgrounds
  • Sound and music
  • Exporting
  • Screening

Who it is for

  • Children who draw constantly
  • Children who love animated films and want to make one
  • A good first creative course for a quieter child

What they need

  • A tablet or a computer with a mouse
  • Paper and a pencil for the first two weeks

Questions parents ask

No. Several of the strongest films each term come from students who draw stick figures and time them beautifully.
